Cookie Bandit Can't Make Bail

Lucky Crowder of Albuquerque, New Mexico is languishing in jail since he cannot make the $5 bail required for his release.

Crowder was charged with stealing cookies. The cost of keeping him in jail is approximately $80 per day. This will continue until someone pays his $5 bond.

Gerald Madrid, bail bond agent, says that Crowder asked for his help but Madrid cannot help because the jail does not allow bondsmen to post a cash bail like that assessed against Crowder.

Last month, Crowder was arrested for shoplifting. The items he stole were valued at under $250. After that, he was also charged with biting a healthcare worker. That case was dismissed, so only the $5 bond remains between Crowder and freedom.

Currently Crowder does not have an attorney representing him.
